Restaurants in Limassol kept us busy (and very full) during the three months we spent living in the city. With some brilliant tips from our Cypriot friends and plenty of trial and error, we managed to eat at a real mix of places. There are traditional taverns tucked away in the suburbs, sleek marina spots with sea views, and casual grill houses that are perfect when you just want something quick and filling.

In this guide, I’ve pulled together the restaurants in Limassol that stood out to us and that I would happily go back to. Some are perfect for special occasions, others are the sort of casual gems you could eat at every week. If you are after breakfast and coffee spots, I also have a guide to the best brunch in Limassol.

For now though, here are my favourite restaurants in Limassol, the ones that are worth adding to your list when you visit.

Best Cypriot Taverns in Limassol

If you want to eat like a local, the taverns are the place to do it. These traditional restaurants are all about long, relaxed meals where you order meze, let the plates keep coming, and stay as long as you like.

In my opinion, these two taverns in Mouttagiaka are the best restaurants in Limassol for that proper Cypriot experience.

Taverna Forsos

Summary: Traditional meze in a leafy courtyard in Mouttagiaka, best for a long weekend dinner with locals. Don’t miss the halloumi, sheftalia and loukoumades.

In Mouttagiaka, Taverna Forsos doesn’t look like much from the street, but the moment you walk into the courtyard, you understand why people love it.

It’s a big garden space with long tables shaded by trees, and when it’s busy at the weekend, there is such a good buzz about the place. We went on a Saturday evening when families and groups of friends were taking their time over dinner, which gave it that proper Cypriot feel.

The meze here was one of the best we had in Limassol.

Course after course arrived at the table, starting with dips and bread, then grilled halloumi, souvlaki, sheftalia and chicken livers.

Later came slow-cooked pork, rice dishes and plates of vegetables. The variety meant everyone at the table had a favourite, and nothing felt rushed.

By the time we reached dessert, loukoumades with honey, we were full but still managed to fit in a few.

This is the kind of place where you settle in for the evening, and I would happily go back; it was one of my favourite restaurants in Limassol for that traditional feel.

Taverna Yialousa

Summary: Cosy, family-run taverna right next to Forsos, known for its checked tablecloths, grapevine courtyard and halloumi ravioli.

Right next door, Taverna Yialousa has a more old-school look with checked tablecloths and grapevines trailing across the pergola. It feels very homely and relaxed, more like someone’s garden than a restaurant.

The meze was similar to Forsos, with a few extras that made it stand out. The cheese-stuffed pasta was the dish we still talk about, essentially halloumi ravioli, and we loved it.

The rest of the plates were generous and tasty, exactly what you would want from a local taverna. It’s the kind of place you want to linger, especially at the weekend, when the pace slows down and everyone seems in the mood for a long meal.

Best Fish Restaurants in Limassol

Being on the coast, you would expect Limassol to be overflowing with seafood restaurants, but in reality, fish is more of a treat here.

It is pricier than you might expect, whether you buy it in the supermarket or in a restaurant, so when you do go for seafood, you want it to be good.

These are my two favourite fish restaurants in Limassol, both serving excellent seafood but in very different settings.

Puesta Oyster Bar and Grill

Summary: Beachfront restaurant near the Four Seasons, with oysters, lobster pasta and sunset views that make it perfect for a special occasion.

Puesta is one of the few restaurants in Limassol that is right on the beach, which already makes it a bit special.

You’ll find it in the tourist area near Aphrodite Beach and the Four Seasons, with plenty of outdoor seating that looks directly out to the sea. We went in the evening, and it felt like the perfect time to be there, with soft lighting, a sea breeze and the sound of the waves.

The oysters are what they’re best known for, and they were excellent. We paired them with a glass of wine, and it felt like a real treat.

Beyond oysters, the menu has grilled seafood, pastas and even lobster pasta if you’re feeling indulgent. The tuna tartar also stood out, fresh and full of flavour.

There are a few meat options for anyone in your group who does not eat seafood, which makes it an easy choice for a mixed crowd.

It’s on the pricier side, but for the setting and the quality, it’s worth it.

Kissos Taverna

Summary: A leafy, inland tavern with fish tanks and plenty of character, serving generous fish meze, outstanding octopus and hearty moussaka.

Not far from Puesta, opposite the Four Seasons, is Kissos Taverna. It’s inland, so you don’t get sea views, but the atmosphere more than makes up for it.

The interior is full of greenery, and the fish tanks dotted around give it a quirky charm. It feels more like a neighbourhood favourite than a polished tourist restaurant.

We went for the fish meze here, which was fantastic. The grilled octopus was perfectly cooked, tender with just the right char. Alongside it came red mullet, prawns, calamari and a few smaller fried bites. Everything was simple and fresh.

For those who are not into fish, the moussaka here is hearty and full of flavour. The prices were much more reasonable than the beachfront spots, which made this one of our regulars when we wanted seafood without the high bill.

Best Limassol Marina Restaurants

The marina is one of the busiest parts of town, full of places to eat and drink with a view. It is lively at all times of day, so it makes sense that some of the best restaurants in Limassol are right here. For me, one place stands out above the rest.

Pier One

Summary: Modern all-day spot right on the marina with sweeping sea views. Great for brunch, seafood, sushi and a lively atmosphere from morning to night.

Pier One is one of my favourites when I want to combine good food with a great setting. It sits directly on the water in Limassol Marina, so you get those panoramic views across the coastline and the boats bobbing in the harbour. It feels buzzy without being overwhelming, and the fact that it’s open from breakfast through to late evening means it works for almost any occasion.

We came here a few times, once for brunch and again for dinner, and both were excellent. The brunch menu was creative without trying too hard, with decent coffee and fresh juices.

For dinner, we tried the sea bream, which was perfectly cooked, and the chicken skioufixta, a Greek pasta dish with a comforting, homely flavour. The sushi was also so good, and definitely worth ordering if you fancy something different.

Given its location, Pier One is one of the busier restaurants in Limassol, especially on weekends, so booking is sensible if you want a good table by the water. It’s not the cheapest, but the views and atmosphere make it worth it. If you want one marina spot to try during your time in Limassol, this is the one.

Best ‘Fast Food’ Restaurants in Limassol

Sometimes you don’t want a big sit-down meal. You just want something quick, tasty and filling that still feels authentic.

Forget the international chains; the best fast-food restaurants in Limassol are the local grill houses. They are simple, cheap and consistently good. Here are favourite ones.

Aristos & Kikis Kebab House

Summary: No-frills local grill house in the tourist area serving excellent souvlaki, mixed grills and takeaway pittas at bargain prices.

Sometimes you just want something quick and tasty without making a whole night of it. That is where Aristos & Kikis comes in. It’s a no-frills restaurant, but the food is brilliant. It’s the kind of place locals come to again and again, which is always a good sign.

We tried the souvlaki a few times, and it never disappointed. You can choose one to three sticks of meat, which come with pitta and salad, either wrapped up or on a plate. The meat is always grilled to order, juicy and well seasoned.

Greek pitta bread with sheftalia and fresh salad

On another visit, we went for the mixed grill, which was a mountain of chops, skewers and sides, and easily enough for two hungry people. It’s the kind of food that hits the spot when you don’t want to cook but also don’t want to splurge on a big dinner.

Prices are very reasonable, and the service is quick and friendly. For a cheap and cheerful dinner or lunch, Aristos & Kikis is one of the best restaurants in Limassol.

Pitta & More

Summary: A casual Lebanese-style spot with fresh wraps and pizzas. Perfect for ordering in when you want something quick and tasty at home.

Pitta & More is one of the places we went to when we didn’t feel like cooking but still wanted something fresh and flavourful. It sits just off St Nicolas Avenue and feels low-key rather than flashy. The staff are always welcoming and everything we’ve tried has been clean, well made and generous.

One of the best things about Pitta & More is that they deliver through both Wolt and Foody, which makes them a go-to when we were working from home or lazing around in the evenings. The menu covers plenty of options too, from Lebanese classics and wraps to pizzas and salads.

My go-to is the chicken shawarma wrap, juicy chicken seasoned with Lebanese spices and tucked into a Lebanese pitta with tomato, onions, fries, pickles and garlic spread. The lahmajun, a Lebanese-style flat pizza topped with minced beef, tomatoes, pine nuts and pomegranate sauce, is another favourite and full of flavour.

If you want a quick lunch or an easy takeaway that will not disappoint, Pitta & More is a solid choice among the best fast-food restaurants in Limassol.

Best Meze in Limassol

Meze is something you should try at least once while you are in Cyprus.

It’s the easiest way to taste lots of different dishes at once, and it turns dinner into a proper event. The trick is finding the places that do it well, as it can be hit and miss. These are the restaurants in Limassol where I had the best meze.

Syrian Restaurant Limassol

Summary: Middle Eastern restaurant just behind the beach road, serving huge Lebanese-Syrian meze in a lively setting with a pretty vine-covered terrace.

We first stumbled upon the Syrian Restaurant by chance, and it quickly became one of our favourites.

It sits just behind the beach road, and the outside is hard to miss with its grand columns and arches. Inside, it’s warm and welcoming, and the outdoor terrace is shaded by vines, which makes it a lovely place to eat in the evening.

The meze here is enormous. We ordered the two-person option and could barely finish it. It started with dips, bread and salads, then wave after wave of hot dishes, including lamb skewers, hummus with beef, kibbeh and falafel.

I was almost full after this starter course

By the end, we had to ask for a box to take some away, which made the perfect lunch the next day. The food leans more Lebanese and Syrian (as you might expect!), but there are lots of similarities with Cypriot meze, so you get the best of both. If you have any space left, the desserts are worth a look too.

This was one of the most generous meals we had in Limassol, both in quantity and quality, and it’s a place I would go back to again and again.

Meze Taverna Restaurant

Summary: Old Town favourite with excellent fish meze, always busy with locals and visitors. Book ahead for octopus salad, snapper and generous seafood platters.

In the Old Town, Meze Taverna is always full, and for good reason. The atmosphere is lively, and the staff keep things moving without making you feel rushed.

The fish meze here is outstanding. Our table was filled with octopus salad, red snapper, sea bream, shrimp and all the sides you would expect, from dips and bread to fresh vegetables.

Every dish was well-cooked and packed with flavour. The seafood was fresh, and the courses arrived at a good pace, which made it feel like a relaxed experience rather than a rush to the finish.

Another epic starter meze course

You do need to book, as this is one of the most popular restaurants in Limassol, especially in the evenings. it’s the perfect place to come if you want a true meze experience in the heart of the city.

Best Bars for Food in Limassol

Plenty of bars in Limassol also serve food, which makes them a good choice if you want something relaxed but still substantial.

The menus are usually broad and portions generous, so they’re great for groups or casual nights out. These are the bar-restaurants in Limassol that I think are worth trying.

Chesters Limassol

Summary: A long-standing pub-turned-restaurant at the far end of Limassol, great for big groups, hearty portions and a Mongolian pork chop that is worth the hype.

Chester’s has been around since the 1990s, starting life as a pub and evolving into a proper restaurant. It’s a bit of an institution in Limassol, and it shows in the crowds it draws.

The restaurant is huge, with seating indoors and outside on multiple levels, but even so, it fills up, so booking is recommended at weekends.

The menu covers everything, from steaks and burgers to pasta, salads and seafood. My standout dish here was the Mongolian pork chop, which was enormous and cooked perfectly. It’s one of the best pork dishes I have ever had. If you’re after something lighter, the pastas and salads are also super fresh.

Prices are on the higher side, but the portions and quality reflect that. Once you finish eating, you can stick around for drinks, watch sports on the screens or check out their live music nights.

It’s the kind of place that works well for groups, families or anyone who wants a lively evening out. For a mix of good food and atmosphere, Chesters deserves its spot on this list of the best restaurants in Limassol.

Gerrard’s Kitchen Bar

Summary: A proper sports pub with a retractable roof, a big choice of beers and a cracking atmosphere. Great staff, darts for a laugh, and Liverpool games are book-only for good reason.

Gerrard’s Kitchen Bar is far more laid back than Chester’s and feels like a true local pub. It has a proper sports bar vibe with big screens, darts and a really solid line-up of beers. In summer, the roof rolls back, which gives it a brilliant atmosphere on a warm evening.

The food is hearty and pub-style, with burgers, chicken goujons and sharing plates that are perfect with a cold pint of Keo.

The staff here are lovely and make you feel welcome straight away, which is the main reason it became our local during our time in Limassol.

On match days, especially when Liverpool are playing, it gets busy and noisy in the best way. You do need to book for those games because it fills up fast, but that only adds to the fun.

If you want somewhere relaxed with good food, good beer and a proper pub feel, Gerrard’s is a brilliant shout.
