There are some amazing bars in Limassol and it’s one of the reasons we loved it so much. There was always somewhere new to try! Whether late at night or during the day on the beach when enjoying the glorious sunshine.
From beach bars to rooftop bars, day-to-night bars in Limassol Marina to sports bars and cocktail bars. There is somewhere for everyone, no matter what you fancy doing.
The Best Bars in Limassol
One of the things that set Limassol apart from its more touristy sisters, Paphos and Protaras, is that it has some amazing restaurants, bars and clubs.
It has the nightlife scene of Nicosia, whilst also being a relaxed coastal city, so you really get the best of both worlds.
It’s why we loved it so much and were so sad to leave. (I actually shed a few tears on the plane as we took off back to England!). We fell in love with it and the Limassol bars and general social scene were a big reason why.
So, I’ve got a little guide together of bars in Limassol that are not to be missed to really soak up that Limassol vibe during your visit.
Read on for my recommendations of the best bars in Limassol.
The Best Beach Bars in Limassol
What do you expect when by the sea other than some great beach bars in Limassol!
There are plenty of smaller café bars dotted all along the stretch of beaches which are all worth a stop. But here I have picked out two of my favourite beach bars in Limassol. Picture yourself with a cocktail in one hand, overlooking the beautiful waters of Cyprus and you’re there!
Columbia Beach Bar
One of the most instagrammable bars in Limassol and it is easy to see why!
As you walk in you are met with a beautiful outdoor pool with grass, trees and the sea beyond. Seating surrounds the pool and the impressive bar sits to the right. This is the place to be seen in Limassol!
As you would expect, this means it is one of the more expensive bars in Limassol but it is definitely worth a visit for the experience. The drinks are delicious and the food is particularly good with a varied menu.
We particularly enjoyed the brunches and the incredible views that Colombia offers whilst eating and drinking in style!
If you wish to stay longer, Colombia Beach Bar has loungers to rent so you can enjoy your cocktail on the beach. VIP beds start at €20 but, as with every beach in Limassol, the compulsory €2.50 beds are also available!
Check out my blog on the best beaches in Limassol for more details on the beaches themselves and the local rule about the prices of sun loungers.
Guaba Beach Bar
A legendary party spot with amazing live music, Guaba is one of the coolest bars in Limassol!
The décor is incredible, both mind-blowing and impressively detailed all at the same time! This bar regularly welcomes some of Europe’s best DJs and their legendary weekend parties have thousands of people in the bar and on its own secluded beach.
If you are looking for a more chilled-out vibe then head here any time of day or weekday evening for comfy seating, good drinks and incredible views. With its own private beach, you can claim a table near the sea and take a dip when you get too hot!
This bar has to be seen to be believed and is always worth a visit.
The Best Sports Bars in Limassol
There are some great sports bars in Limassol and so you will be spoiled for choice if you want to watch your favourite sport whilst in town.
All sports, except the Cypriot and Greek league football matches, are shown in English. On top of that, the bars seem to have access to nearly any sport. So if your chosen form of sporting entertainment isn’t on the screen, then just ask the staff!
Here I pick out two of my favourites for you.
Gerrards Sports Bar
This is hands down one of our favourite bars in Limassol and not just for sports! It is located on the beach road in the Agios Tychonas area of Limassol.
Complete with a fully retractable roof, loads of TVs including a big screen, a huge bar, a great kitchen, a couple of darts boards and live music this is the ultimate place to watch sport or just chill out!
The staff are incredibly friendly and it makes this a great fun place to hang out. All premier league football is shown in English.
Gerrard’s is the official Liverpool Supporters’ Bar in Limassol. As a result, tables sold out in advance of any Liverpool games. They even have buses arriving from all over the island on big game days to pack the place! So you may not get a table for Liverpool games but for all other sporting events, you will find plenty of space.
The selection of drinks is great and the kitchen is definitely worth a try. The menu is varied and delicious, think traditional bar food and snacks but done very well and with some Asian-inspired alternatives!
We couldn’t recommend this place highly enough and we can’t wait to head back next time we’re on the island!
The Nag’s Head
If Gerrard’s Bar is pro-Liverpool then the Nag’s Head is the Manchester United supporters’ bar in Limassol! That said you won’t find it as busy for a Utd game as Gerrards is for a Liverpool game. Perhaps that reflects the clubs’ differing fortunes at the moment!
Allegiances aside, the Nag’s Head is one of the best sports bars in Limassol and probably the largest. It has plenty of seating for any sporting event and even for larger groups. The main bar area is filled with TVs so you can watch the sport from any table. There is a pool and darts room off to the side which has a number of tables all for hire.
They also offer an extensive food menu with various cuisines on offer. From pizzas and burgers to seafood, steaks and Mexican choices amongst many others! A great venue to watch sports or shoot some pool!
The Best Bars in the Old Town
What is great about the old town is that it is away from the water, and (surprise!) is in the more historical part of town. As a result, it has a completely different feel to the rest of the city and arguably, some of the best bars in Limassol are located here.
Walk the cobbled streets and find colourful little bars down side streets to enjoy a pint of crisp Keo beer or grab a seat at a rooftop bar and enjoy views over the old town.
I’ve listed a few of our favourite bars in Limassol located in Old Town. However, I’d recommend going with your gut, and taking a walk around and seeing what you find! There are so many bars and restaurants to enjoy, and they all look amazing.
Rooftop Bar in AGORA
In what used to be the Old traditional Market now stands a modern Indoor Market House. Think Borough Market (London) or Mackie Mayor (Manchester) which houses lots of different cuisines and bars. Have a mooch around the shops and food outlets downstairs before heading to the rooftop bar for a coffee or a cocktail.
Guest Bar & Café
You may stumble upon Guest Bar when wandering the winding cobbled streets of Old Town. At least that’s what happened to us. We were completely drawn in by their colourful patio area and had to have a seat.
Friendly staff, great drinks and music and a relaxing place to enjoy an afternoon drink.
Lab Restaurant & Bar
Again, another bar we stumbled upon and it looked so nice from the outside that we had to go in.
At the back is a garden area which is super romantic and relaxing. It has fairy lights and candles to create a beautiful setting. Their cocktails are amazing too.
The Best Party Spots in Limassol
Limassol knows how to party! So if you are after some great music and flowing drinks late into the night then you won’t be disappointed!
Rumours Limassol
Rumours is the ultimate late-night bar in Limassol! It is located in the tourist area, along the beach road. By day it offers café bar vibes with good food and drinks served in a relaxed setting. Rumours is open along one side, so it is the perfect spot to sit and people-watch during the day.
During the night though, the atmosphere changes and the party starts! Resident and guest DJs play an eclectic collection of pop and dance classics, modern floor fillers and the occasional Greek/Cypriot favourite for good measure!
I would recommend reserving a table in advance as Rumours is always busy. The drinks menu is extensive with some great cocktails on offer or do as the locals do and buy spirits by the bottle for the table!
The action gets going between 11 pm and midnight and goes on until the early hours so don’t make any early morning plans the next day!
The Best Luxury Bars in Limassol
You might have noticed that Limassol has a fair bit of cash knocking around. What with the brand-new marina with multi-million euro properties, and skyscrapers being erected left, right and centre, as well as the fancy cars driving up and down the beach road.
As a result, there are a number of fancy, or luxury bars in Limassol to reflect this! We generally prefer a sports bar, a beach bar or exploring the cool bars in Old Town. But now and again, it’s fun to splash out and try something different.
If you like the finer things in life, then here are a few bars in Limassol that you might enjoy.
Four Seasons Limassol
If you fancy a more refined drink, then head to Four Season Limassol in the Agios Tychonas area of Limassol.
The impressive and imposing hotel is very grand but is welcoming to guests and non-guests alike. There is a café at the front (roadside) of the hotel called Colours in which you can enjoy a drink, a coffee and/or some delicious cakes.
Alternatively, head into the hotel itself to its bar which overlooks the outdoor pool and the beach and sea beyond. The inside section of the bar can get popular with the guests for obvious reasons, but you can take your drinks outside if you wish to admire the views.
This is a great place to come for a weekday evening drink and watch the world go by. Alternatively, treat someone special whilst you’re away!
Bar du Soleil
The relatively new Bar du Soleil is one of the most popular bars in the Limassol marina area. You can’t miss it, as it’s the bar that is more or less, always busy any time of day.
A lively bar which is perfectly located right on the water, and serves amazing cocktails, enjoy the music, and atmosphere and get the night started here.
It is definitely a place to be seen and to get that all-important Instagram snap! It is also one of the best cocktail bars in Limassol! So grab a table and a cold drink and enjoy some of the best people watching on the island in this cool, harbourside bar.
