If you’re heading out to Borovets for a ski holiday this year, one of the most important things to do is to find somewhere to stay. There are some great hotels in Borovets, so I thought I’d write a blog of the best ones.

Given that most people visit Borovets to ski, being close to the Gondola (ski lift) is important! Luckily, Borovets is a purpose built ski resort, so most hotels in Borovets are very accessible.

I spent 3 months in skiing in Bansko for a season (it’s where I learned to ski!) and spent a weekend skiing in Borovets as a little holiday. While Bansko is my favourite Bulgaria Ski Resort, Borovets comes in close! It’s so much fun.

The thing I like best about it, is that everything was close together, the nightlife is good and it’s a super cosy resort.

So you’ve decided to go to Borovets, let me help you with where to stay. Here are some of the best hotels in Borovets.

High End/Luxury Hotels in Borovets

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

In Bulgaria, you get great bang for your buck. Staying in a luxury hotel in the Alps might not be possible for many people, it certainly is in Borovets.

With that in mind, here are some of my favourite high end hotels in Borovets.

Rila Hotel

Rila Hotel Borovets

Nestled in the heart of Borovets, Rila Hotel Borovets is just 70 km from Sofia and is one of the best hotels in Borovets.

It’s definitely a premier choice for your mountain getaway. Positioned at the end of the ski slopes and a mere 200 meters from the Gondola lift, this hotel seamlessly combines convenience with comfort.

The Martinovi Baraki chair lift is a mere 50 meters away and the Sitnyakovo Express chair lift just 100 meters away.

Everything is easy at Rila Hotel. You can rent equipment and securely store it, purchase lift passes and book ski or snowboard lessons all on-site. Families with little ones will appreciate the ski kindergarten and kids’ club.

The hotel boasts a spa area, various restaurants, and entertainment clubs. As a guest, you’ll also enjoy free access to the spa center, complete with a 25-meter swimming pool, two hot tubs, a fully equipped gym, and rejuvenating thermal and relax zones.

Rila Hotel goes beyond just accommodation; it’s almost as good as the skiing itself! You’ll definitely want to take a rest day from skiing and chill in this beautiful hotel.

If you’re visiting Borovets in the Summer, Rila Hotel is still a fantastic option. Enjoy guided mountain hikes, explore selected trails, enjoy mountain cycling, horseback riding, fishing, picnicking, and an array of outdoor activities.

Hotel Yastrebets Wellness & Spa

Yastrebets Hotel in Borovets

Just a short 50-minute drive from Sofia, lies the remarkable Hotel Yastrebets Wellness & Spa – a true gem in Borovets.

Yastrebets is right on the Yastrebets ski slope, making it a dream come true for skiers. It’s ski-in-ski-out and I think it’s the hotel in Borovets with the best location.

The rooms are so cosy, and each one comes with a terrace offering jaw-dropping views of either the ski slope or the pine forest.

The spa facilities are epic here. We’re talking Finnish sauna with a steam bath, a herbal bath, a laconium (not sure what it is, but I am IN!), Kneipp foot therapy, hot tub, a 15m pool and a lush lounge with exotic showers. It’s basically a pampering paradise!

So, whether you’re a ski pro, a spa aficionado, or just someone looking for a luxe escape in the mountains, Hotel Yastrebets Wellness & Spa has got it all and you’ll not want to leave.

Musala Hotel

Musala Hotel in Borovets

Musala Hotel is a sleek and modern 4-star hotel in Borovets. This hotel is strategically perched right on the ski slopes in the heart of Borovets, a mere 300 meters from the main street.

An indoor pool awaits (free of charge) so make sure you take a dip after a day of conquering the slopes.

Accommodation options are aplenty with 34 double/twin rooms and 6 apartments, each decked out with balconies that offer stunning views of either the mountains or the bustling center of the resort.

In essence, Musala Hotel is more than a place to rest your head; it’s a retreat into comfort, nature, and the thrill of the slopes. Ski in and out, away from the resort’s noise – it’s not just a stay; it’s an experience.

Mid-Range Hotels in Borovets

⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you’ve got a slightly lower budget, then no fear, there are some absolutely fantastic hotels in Borovets in the mid-range department.

Here are my top picks.

Lion Hotel

Lion Hotel in Borovets

Nestled in a serene corner of Borovets, the recently renovated Lion Hotel Borovets offers a tranquil escape at the Rila Mountain.

Its location, surrounded by nature, provides a peaceful retreat just a 20-25 minute walk from the gondola in summer.

The rooms are cosy and well-equipped, each one features a TV, minibar and a relaxing en-suite bathroom with a bathtub to soak those sore muscles.

Two restaurants, including a traditional ‘Mehana’ for a taste of Bulgarian culture are onsite to refuel. The lobby bar, with its inviting fireplaces, sets the scene for a cosy wind-down after exploring the mountains.

And for the logistics – while it’s not ski-in-ski-out, fret not. A complimentary shuttle service runs every 10 minutes to the slopes, providing seamless access. A 15-20 minute stroll into town is also an option.

The hotel’s 24-hour front desk ensures you’re well taken care of throughout your stay. They’ll also arrange ski equipment for your convenience.

Ice Angels Hotel

Ice Angels Hotel in Borovets

Nestled between the chair lift and drag lifts, Ice Angels Hotel boasts a stellar location, making it a prime spot for your stay.

Offering rooms with fireplaces, stunning slope views, and complimentary Wi-Fi, this hotel in Borovets is a true gem.

Step into your comfortable and spacious room adorned with carpeted floors, a cosy seating area, and a practical work desk (although I doubt you’ll have time for work!).

The hotel offers an array of facilities, including a ski school and a children’s games room. And when it comes to dining and entertainment, you’re covered with a restaurant and a night club.

The breakfast, though available for a limited time, gets a thumbs up, and the restaurant offers delightful fare at reasonable prices. In a nutshell, a highly recommended stay.

A quick heads-up – the relax center, including the spa and pool, is currently closed for renovations as of November 2023. It’s always a good idea to double-check if it’s reopened before booking if you’re eyeing those facilities.

Budget Hotels in Borovets

⭐⭐

If you’re planning on spending most of your time on the slopes and in the bars, restaurants and clubs in Borovets, you’re probably just looking for a place to rest your head.

Here are my top three picks.

Flora Hotel (Apartments)

Flora Hotel Apartments Accomodation in Borovets

Me and my friends booked two studio apartments for a weekend visit to Borovets in March during the ski season.

We found Flora Apartments to be relatively basic, the decor isn’t very modern, but the rooms were clean, warm and cosy. It was easy to get to the lift too from here. Given we spent very little time in the apartment, it did exactly what we needed it to – provided a great nights’ sleep!

While we didn’t have breakfast, it looked good and the reviews rate it highly.

You get access to the spa in the neighbouring Flora Hotel, which you have to pay for, but was a nice addition to sauna post ski!

I enjoyed our stay here and would recommend if you’re visiting for a weekend. You can view the photos and reviews here.

TES Flora Apartments

Tes Flora Apartments Hotel in Borovets

TES Flora Apartments one of the more cheap and cheerful hotels in Borovets. If you’re looking for a no frills, budget friendly place to lay your head while you enjoy everything Borovets has to offer, this is a fantastic option.

The best bit is that it’s in a great location – just 150m from the gondola lift. There is also a spa, and while it’s not technically part of the apartment complex, you can still pay to use it which is a nice treat.

The kitchens are fully equipped and there is free parking (although it’s offered on a first come first serve basis).

It’s great value for money and I rate this hotel, particularly if you’re likely to be on the slopes in the day, and apres’ing at night!

Hotel in Borovets Villa BeniArt Studio

This cute little one-bed apartment is ariound a 10-minute walk to the ski lift, so a little further out. It’s cosy and has everything you need, and includes free parking (which is hard to come by in Borovets) and a bar on site.

It’s really well equipped, and well reviewed, so maybe if you want to be slightly outside of the nightlife in Borovets, then this is a great option for you.
